Frequently asked questions about Buxmate for organisers and guests.
General
Is Buxmate free?
Yes — Buxmate is free during open beta. No card required to sign up.
Do guests need an account?
No. Guests use a private invite link only. No password, no app download required.
Does Buxmate process payments?
No. Buxmate calculates who owes what and lets organisers record payments. Guests pay the organiser directly (bank transfer, PayID, cash, etc.).
Is my event public?
No. Only people with an invite link can access your event.
Organisers
Why weren't my guests emailed when I added them?
Adding a guest only puts them on your list. You must Send invite manually (per guest or bulk).
What's the difference between Draft and Active?
Draft is mainly an organiser label for planning. Active is the normal running state. See Event statuses.
How do I exclude the buck/hen from shared costs?
Mark them as Guest of honour on their profile, then use allocation methods that exclude guest of honour.
RSVPs changed — why did payment amounts change?
Activity costs split among guests marked Going. When RSVPs change, shares recalculate. Use Recalculate payments if needed. Paid amounts are kept.
A guest overpaid — what do I do?
Record a Refund on their allocation. Their status may show Owed to guest or Credit until resolved.
Can I undo archive?
Not yet. Archive is permanent for now. Duplicate the event if you need a fresh copy.
Can I export guest data?
Yes — Export CSV on the Guests page.
Guests
I lost my invite link
Ask the organiser to copy it from your guest profile and resend it.
Why can't I RSVP?
The event may be archived (read-only). Or your session expired — open your invite link again.
Why doesn't my email show to other guests?
By design. Only names appear on Who's coming. Contact details are organiser-only.
Can I see photos without the app?
Photos load in your browser on the guest hub. Links require your guest session — copying a photo URL to another browser will not work.
Account
I didn't get the verification email
Check spam. Resend from Check your email. Ensure your organiser email domain is not blocking buxmate.com.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. This deletes all your events and data.
